The ethics department of the doctors' union, the Israeli Medical Association (Histadrut Refuit), has sent a letter to hospitals, reminding them of doctors' obligation to treat patients, even if they are Hamas militants, reports Mako.

The letter, addressed to hospital directors, comes in response to protests at various medical institutions when Hamas militants were admitted for treatment.

"The ethics rules of the Israeli Medical Association mandate us to provide medical care during armed conflicts, regardless of the patient’s identity. The only consideration should be the patient’s health condition," the letter states.

The Ethics Department of the trade union organization emphasizes that this approach aligns with international conventions, declarations, and Israeli law.

"Hence, despite the heinousness of Hamas’s crimes, as doctors, we provide them with the necessary assistance to allow the legal system to bring them to justice," the letter underscores.
