Head of Bank of Israel on government budget: 'Inability to make tough decisions now will cost us dearly in future'
Bank of Israel governor Amir Yaron urged the government to prioritize and not shy away from making tough decisions when forming the state budget for the year 2024.
"Avoiding aligning the state budget with the current situation, including cutting expenses, closing unnecessary ministries, and increasing revenues, in light of military needs, could be much more costly for the country in the future," said the head of the central bank.
According to him, Israel needs a responsible budget now, which requires making difficult decisions in determining priorities. "This is the way to create conditions for the economy to return to realizing its growth potential," says Yaron.
