During the World Trade Organization conference in the United Arab Emirates, a ceremony took place for Israel to ratify Uzbekistan's request to join the WTO.
Israeli Minister of Economy Nir Barkat signed the corresponding document during a meeting with Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister, Jamshid Khodjaev.
Membership in the WTO necessitates the consent of all member countries, with Uzbekistan needing to secure support from all 160 nations.
Presently, the only former Soviet republics not yet part of the WTO are Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus.
