Number of foreign workers in Israel returns to pre-war levels
The Israeli Population and Immigration Authority has published data on the recruitment of foreign workers in Israel. The report covers the past six months – following the start of the October 7 attack, which significantly changed the approach to the continued use of Palestinian workers.
According to this document, Israel had 147,829 legal foreign workers before the war, and the number currently stands at 149,613.
Over the past six months, delegations have been sent to various countries to attract foreign workers to Israel. Four went to Sri Lanka, two to Moldova, three to India, and one to Cambodia. Israel currently has agreements with 14 countries to attract workers to Israel. Checks on possessing the necessary skills were conducted for 20,405 people.
In April, the arrival of 2,500 foreign workers, who will be employed in the construction industry, is expected.
