On Sunday, July 14, the Wall Street Journal reported that Google is in talks to buy the Israeli cybersecurity startup Wiz.
According to the WSJ, the negotiations are at an advanced stage, and the deal, which could be finalized soon, is valued at $23 billion.
Neither party has commented on the potential acquisition, and there is no confirmation from other sources about Google’s plans to buy the startup, which specializes in cybersecurity for cloud computing.
Israeli economic observers note that if the deal goes through, it will be the largest in the history of Israeli high-tech.
In May, Wiz announced a $1 billion round of capital raising, valuing the company at $12 billion.
Since its inception in 2020, Wiz has raised $1.9 billion from investors. The most recent round was in February 2023, when the company raised $300 million, based on a $10 billion valuation.
In 2023, Wiz, now a leader in cloud security, reported revenues of $350 million.
