The Ministry of Health has unveiled a new bill titled "What's Good for Europe is Good for Israel," aimed at revamping the importation process for food and cosmetics from Europe.
The proposed change shifts responsibility for ensuring the safety of these goods from the state to importers.
Once the bill receives approval, importers who guarantee that their goods meet European Union standards will be permitted to import them without direct ties to the manufacturer and without the necessity of preliminary inspections for each consignment.
Instead, random checks will be conducted by the Ministry of Health at store shelves and warehouses.
It's worth noting that the reform will exclude oral hygiene products, as well as cosmetic and hygiene products for infants and pregnant women.
