Soldier's organs donated against family's wishes

The parents of a soldier who died in combat with terrorists in Gaza agreed to donate his organs for transplantation to patients in need. They specified their wish for the organs to go only to Jewish patients. However, they later discovered that one of their son’s organs was transplanted to an Arab girl, contrary to their request.

Channel 12 reported that the soldier's parents were informed that the recipient was a girl from the Arab quarter of Jerusalem, which angered them due to the violation of their wishes.

In response, the Ministry of Health clarified that organ donation decisions are based strictly on medical criteria. Only in cases of living kidney donations, where the donor specifies a preference, can such requests be accommodated. The Ministry emphasized that the healthcare system prioritizes saving lives impartially, regardless of ethnicity or background.
