On the night of January 1, the IDF continued its operations in the Gaza sector. Throughout the night, information about the progress of the military actions was exclusively spread by Gaza sources.

Precisely at midnight, Gaza fired rockets into Israeli territory, including central areas of the country. Hamas demonstrated the ability to carry out such "scheduled" attacks. The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, claimed that at least twenty M-90 rockets were launched towards Tel Aviv.

Soon after the rocket attack from Gaza into Israeli territory, the IDF artillery targeted the area near the Shahada school in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp. It is possible that the rockets were launched from this area.

Subsequently, there were reports of intense artillery shelling in the central quarters of Khan Yunis. It is worth noting that reports of shelling in Khan Yunis continued throughout the night. Additionally, the IDF engaged in clashes in the central and western parts of Khan Yunis.

Sources in Gaza reported fighting and shelling in the eastern part of Al-Bureij and Al-Maghazi, as well as near the Abu Dawud mosque in Nuseirat, in the central sector.

As of now, the IDF has not provided comments on the military actions in Gaza on January 1.
