On the evening of January 8, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Israel as part of his Middle East tour. Tomorrow morning, he is scheduled to meet with President Isaac Herzog, Foreign Minister Israel Katz, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and members of the narrow war cabinet.
He is also expected to speak to relatives of the kidnapped Israelis during the day. On Wednesday, January 10, he is scheduled to meet with parliamentary opposition leader Yair Lapid.
Before arriving in Israel, Antony Blinken visited Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. Prior to his flight to Tel Aviv, he stated that "there are leaders in the Middle East determined to prevent the war from spreading to other countries in the region".
According to him, no one—neither Lebanon, Israel, nor Hezbollah—is interested in escalating the situation.
