According to Maariv news, Israeli doctors are preparing for a distressing scenario: some of the hostages captured by Hamas on October 7 may be pregnant as a result of the rape they endured.

As reported by Dr. Itay Gal, Israeli hospitals have started preparing to receive pregnant hostages in recent weeks.

While Israel will permit abortions for the rape victims, the focus is on addressing the enduring psychological trauma that those who have experienced rape, and their loved ones, will carry for the rest of their lives.

The brutal rape of Israeli women was disclosed on October 7, the day of the Hamas attack. Additionally, returned Israeli hostages revealed that they witnessed rape during their captivity.

The abuse of the hostages persists, with each passing day increasing the risk of pregnancy. There is concern that such pregnancies may pose dangers due to the lack of necessary medical care, unsanitary conditions, and hunger.

Professor Tal Biron, who heads the Israeli Association of Maternal Health, is quoted in the publication.

She notes that as the baby develops in the womb, the mother becomes more attached, and the associated psychological trauma cannot be fully assessed.
