IDF operations in Gaza on January 16

On the night of January 16, the IDF continued their operations in the Gaza Strip, with updates on the progress of the fighting coming exclusively from sources within Gaza.

Reports from these sources indicated IDF strikes on targets in Jabaliya, located in the northern part of the Strip, and in western Gaza City. Additionally, there were reports of ongoing clashes in the center of Khan Yunis, situated in the southern sector.

However, a lack of comprehensive information about the Gaza conflict persisted, possibly due to ongoing communication and internet challenges in the region.

Recent days have suggested a decrease in the intensity of IDF operations in Gaza, although the IDF has not officially commented on the events of January 16.

Yesterday (January 15), the IDF had reported the loss of Reserve Petty Officer Nitzan Schessler, 21, from Hadera, a member of the 7155th Battalion, 55th Ha-Esh Brigade, killed in combat in the southern Gaza Strip.

During the same engagement, another soldier from the 7155th battalion suffered serious injuries. Furthermore, in a separate battle in the south of the Gaza Strip, a soldier from the 603rd Engineer Battalion of the 7th Saar Mi-Golan Brigade was also seriously wounded.
