High Court authorized anti-war protest in Haifa

Despite police objections, an anti-war rally organized by the public organization Shutafut Hashalom will proceed in Haifa.

On Thursday, January 18, the High Court of Justice ruled in favor of the rally against the Gaza war, despite police concerns.

Scheduled for Saturday, January 20, from 13:00 to 15:00 at Place Paris, the rally is expected to draw about 700 participants.

The Hadash party and the Society for Human Rights filed an appeal against the police decision, arguing for the right to assemble. The police had proposed holding the event at the Convention Center on weekdays with a limited attendance of 400, citing safety concerns.

Government legal adviser Gali Baharav Miara emphasized the importance of respecting free speech and assembly rights, particularly during times of crisis.
