The US continues to pressure Israel to transfer all taxes collected for the Palestinian Authority. However, Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, is blocking the transfer of Gaza's tax share, while the PA government refuses to accept an incomplete transfer.
To resolve the halt, the military-political cabinet is considering an initiative to redirect Gaza's tax share to a trust account managed by the Norwegian government.
To prevent unauthorized transfers or loans, Israel proposes a condition that any such action by Norway would result in a corresponding deduction from funds transferred to Ramallah.
Under the proposed conditions, Norway would only release the funds after a change of power in Gaza.
