Biden and Netanyahu spoke for 45 Minutes over phone
The phone call between U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took place against the backdrop of rumors of deteriorating relations between them. The conversation lasted for 45 minutes and focused on the military operation in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, and efforts to release Israelis held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Kan 11 channel says the conversation between the two leaders was tense. Biden continues to demand more active measures from Netanyahu to increase humanitarian aid to the Gaza population and to refrain from launching a large-scale military operation in Rafah until the safety of civilians is guaranteed. Biden warned Netanyahu that the operation in Rafah "could turn into a catastrophe."
The Ynet website writes that after the conversation with President Biden, Benjamin Netanyahu is participating in a meeting of the War Cabinet, where a possible deal with Hamas is being discussed.
