Finance Minister and leader of the Religious Zionist party, Bezalel Smotrich, has called on the government's legal adviser, Gali Baharav Miara, to launch an immediate investigation into the public organization 'Help 48' and the Ra'am party.
This request stems from allegations of fund transfers to a non-profit foundation in Turkey with ties to Hamas.
The call for an investigation comes after Kan 11 journalist, Avishai Grinzeig, reported that Help 48, an organization affiliated with the Ra'am party within the Islamic Movement, transferred funds in 2021 to the Turkish Uma Hiram Foundation, known for its support of Hamas.
Help 48 reportedly transferred 400 thousand shekels to this foundation. Smotrich expressed deep concern over the connections between the Ra'am party and groups supporting Hamas, emphasizing the urgency of thorough investigation, especially during times of conflict.
