Sinwar's escape to Egypt deemed unlikely by security experts
Security experts believe that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, based in the Gaza Strip, is still in Khan Yunis. Even if he attempts to flee to Egypt, Egyptian authorities show no interest in sheltering the mastermind behind the October 7 massacre.
Israeli troops continue to uncover more shelters where Sinwar and his family members have been hiding. Each search reveals how long ago Sinwar vacated the location. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) recognize that Sinwar is days ahead in evading capture and are working to close the gap.
The IDF possesses recent recordings predating the video released on Tuesday. These materials will be made public at a later time.
Initially, during the ground operation in Gaza, it was suspected that Sinwar was hiding in tunnels beneath the Shifa hospital. However, his current whereabouts are believed to be in Khan Yunis. While he could attempt to reach Rafah or flee to Egypt, it's improbable that Egyptian authorities would permit his escape.
