Netanyahu: Israel opposes unilateral recognition of Palestinian state
During a Sunday State Security Cabinet (SSC) weekly meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarified his position on recognizing a Palestinian state while commenting on the attempts by the US administration and several allied Middle Eastern states to impose a long-term resolution plan for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which would result in the creation of an Arab state of Palestine.
"In light of the talk recently heard in the international community about an attempt to unilaterally impose a Palestinian state on Israel, I am bringing a declarative decision on this issue for the government's approval today. I am sure it will be widely accepted," Netanyahu said.
The Prime Minister then stated: "Israel outright rejects international diktats regarding a permanent settlement with the Palestinians. Such an arrangement will be reached only through direct negotiations between the parties, without preconditions. Israel will continue to oppose the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state. Such recognition in the wake of the October 7 massacre would give a huge reward to unprecedented terrorism and prevent any future peace settlement."
