Lapid presented conscription bill to Knesset for consideration

Yair Lapid, leader of the Yesh Atid party, announced during a faction meeting that he's presenting a significant bill to the Knesset for consideration.

"We can't sustain the current state of affairs. Israeli society won't tolerate a situation where some worry all night about their children in combat, while others avoid sharing the burden," Lapid stated.

He proposed that individuals not serving in the military or alternative service shouldn't receive state benefits according to his bill.

"With 17% of the population being ultra-Orthodox, if they enlist, there'd be no need to extend IDF service," the opposition leader added.

It's worth noting that the Yesh Atid bill is more of a statement as it's unlikely to be approved.
