Channel 11: Yahya Sinwar back in contact with Hamas leadership abroad
Roy Sharon, the evening news reporter for Kan-11, has stated that after a period of silence, Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, has reestablished communication with the group's political leadership abroad.
Sharon sourced this information from individuals familiar with the ongoing negotiations for the release of captives.
Rumors had circulated for weeks suggesting that Hamas's foreign leadership had lost contact with Yahya Sinwar. These reports were not only circulated by Israeli media but also confirmed by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Specifically, on February 18, during a meeting at the Southern Military District headquarters, Gallant announced that the Khan Yunis brigade of Hamas had been defeated, prompting the foreign leadership to seek a replacement for Sinwar.
On February 19, Kan-11 television reported that Rauhi Mushtaq, one of the founders of Hamas's military wing, is considered the most likely successor to Sinwar.
