Benny Gantz says there are initial signs of new hostage deal with Hamas
On Wednesday, war cabinet minister and leader of the Blue and White party Benny Gantz told reporters in Tel Aviv that there are "initial signs that indicate the possibility of moving forward" on a "new framework" to free the hostages. Gantz addressed the relatives of the abducted Israelis and assured them that the IDF is doing everything for their release.
"No stone will be left unturned during this mission, the success of which is the responsibility of the country's leadership," he said. He also praised the actions of the families of the hostages, noting their admirable efforts on behalf of their loved ones.
Benny Gantz spoke about the initial signs of progress in negotiations with Hamas. "We will not miss any opportunity to bring our sons and daughters home," he said.
Gantz said the Rafah offensive will begin after the evacuation of civilians from the area. He noted that the operation is necessary to eliminate active militants in the area and demilitarize the Gaza Strip. "I will repeat it again. If there is no agreement on the release of the hostages, we will launch the offensive even during Ramadan," he reiterated.
Benny Gantz also commented on the results of the Knesset vote on the resolution against the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state.
According to him, after the events of October 7, this would be a "prize" for terrorists. Gantz stated that in the future, Israel seeks to maintain its advantage and the ability to conduct security operations throughout the Gaza Strip. "Our mission is 100% security control, with zero civilian control," he emphasized.
