Netanyahu and Lapid meet in the Knesset after the Palestinian state voting
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is meeting with Opposition Leader Yair Lapid in the Knesset to provide a routine security briefing amid the ongoing war against Hamas and Hezbollah.
This meeting was preceded by a plenary session of the Knesset, during which the majority of lawmakers approved a government resolution rejecting the idea of the unilateral international recognition of a Palestinian state.
Ninety-nine deputies, including the majority of the Yesh Atid party, voted for this resolution, while 11 deputies from Hadash–Ta'al and Ra'am voted against it. The majority of the Labor Party MKs did not participate in the vote. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked the opposition, and Yair Lapid stated: "My party and I voted in favor of this proposal because my party and I are opposed to unilateral measures. But the prime minister knows, as I do, that all this is manipulation. There is not a single official in the world that offers unilateral recognition of Palestine," Lapid said.
