Terrorists responsible for Highway 1 attack identified

The identities of the terrorists involved in an armed assault on Highway 1 between Ma'ale Adumim and Jerusalem today, February 22, have been disclosed.

The assailants have been identified as brothers Muhammad Zuahara (26 years old) and Kadam Zuahara (31 years old), residents of the village of Ta'amra (located south of Bethlehem and northeast of Hebron in the Palestinian Authority).

According to available information, they were fatally shot while carrying out the attack.

The third attacker, who sustained injuries and was subsequently apprehended, is Ahmed Alushash, a resident of the village of Zatara (situated southeast of Bethlehem in the Palestinian Authority).

According to police reports, the three terrorists arrived in a vehicle, disembarked, and opened fire with automatic weapons at vehicles caught in a traffic jam on Highway 1, heading towards Jerusalem. Two of the terrorists were fatally shot at the scene, while the third attempted to flee but was swiftly located and neutralized.

The attackers were armed with two M-16 automatic rifles, a Carl Gustav submachine gun, and a pistol, with one of them also carrying a gas grenade.

Tragically, the attack claimed the life of Matan Elmaliah, 26, from Ma'ale Adumim, while a 23-year-old pregnant woman sustained serious injuries.

Additionally, five others suffered injuries ranging from light to moderate severity, including a reservist who engaged in combat with the terrorists.
