Acre resident accused of contacting Hamas rep who planned to kill Glick or Ben-Gvir
On Monday, February 26, an indictment was filed in the Haifa District Court against 40-year-old Tariq Daur from Akko. He is accused of having contact with a Hamas militant who attempted to recruit him.
According to the indictment, Daur visited the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem approximately two to three times a month starting in 2018.
In September 2020, he was contacted by a man introducing himself as "Abu Abdullah," claiming to represent the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing.
They initially communicated through Facebook, later switching to Telegram.
"Abu Abdullah" expressed interest in Daur's activities in protecting Al-Aqsa. Believing he was communicating with someone from Gaza, Daur continued the conversation.
However, when offered to assassinate a certain high-ranking official and informed that his family would receive 60 thousand shekels if he died in the attack, Daur declined, stating he wouldn't relinquish his weapon but refused to commit murder.
Although specific names were not mentioned in the conversations, the "target" could have been Yehuda Glick or Itamar Ben-Gvir.
