The State Attorney's office filed charges on Thursday, February 29, in the Jerusalem District Court against a 17-year-old resident of an Arab neighborhood in Jerusalem, as well as against a 29-year-old resident of Shuafat named Shahar Tartir. They conspired with Hamas activists from the Gaza Strip to organize a terrorist attack against security personnel at a military checkpoint near Jerusalem. The name of the minor is not disclosed due to his age.

According to the indictment, the defendants corresponded with Hamas activists from the Gaza Strip starting from Ramadan in 2023 and up until October 2023, discussing the possibility of obtaining weapons and money from Gaza to carry out the attack.

According to their correspondence, after receiving weapons and money, the minor was supposed to open fire on soldiers near his place of residence, after which he planned to flee to one of the Arab villages in Judea and Samaria.

In early October, the terrorists from Gaza informed their accomplices that they would provide an answer regarding the money and weapons by the end of the month. However, due to the October 7 attack and Operation Swords of Iron, the Hamas members never contacted their accomplices, and communication was severed.
