The traffic jams ensued as hundreds of members of the ultra-religious community protested the conscription of yeshiva students, leading to the blockage of Highway 4 southbound near the Coca-Cola intersection.

Police are attempting to remove the protesters from the roadway forcefully, but their efforts have been unsuccessful so far.

The demonstrators are reportedly affiliated with the Peleg Yerushalmi (Jerusalem Faction) movement, which staunchly opposes religious service in the army.
