On Wednesday, March 6, the IDF reported that Staff Sgt. David Sasson was killed in action in the southern Gaza Strip today. He was 21 years old and was from Ganot Hadar. He served in the Oketz canine unit.
Another 12 soldiers were wounded, five of them seriously — three of the Commando Brigade and two of the Oketz unit — in the same battle against Hamas operatives.
Since the start of the ground offensive in Gaza on October 27, 247 soldiers have been killed. They died in Gaza, near the border with Lebanon, in Judea and Samaria, and as a result of terrorist attacks in Israel.
Since October 7, as a result of terrorist attacks in the October 7 massacre and during Operation Swords of Iron, 587 IDF soldiers have been killed.
