As part of preparations for a full-scale war with the Lebanese terror organization Hezbollah, the Home Front Command has begun converting underground parking lots in northern Israel into bomb shelters for extended stays.
Significant amounts of water, food, and essential items have been prepared to supply these bomb shelters.
The Home Front Command will be responsible for transporting and accommodating residents in homes that lack sufficient protection from rockets or are located far from district bomb shelters.
Earlier, the Israeli government considered evacuating residents of northern Israel to tent cities in the Arabah desert; however, the IDF has decided against the idea.
