In an interview with Politico magazine, owned by the publishing house Axel Springer SE, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to criticism from US President Joe Biden.
During an interview with MSNBC on Saturday, March 9, Biden stated that the Israeli army's invasion of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip would be a "red line" for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, emphasizing that Netanyahu's policies are misguided.
At the beginning of the interview, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remarked, “I am uncertain about what the President (Biden) meant. However, if he intended to imply that my policies are contrary to the wishes of the majority of Israeli society and detrimental to Israel's interests, he is mistaken. This is not merely my personal stance; it is a position supported by the vast majority of Israelis."
He continued, "They endorse our efforts to dismantle the remaining Hamas terrorist cells. They believe that after neutralizing Hamas, our next step should be preventing the Palestinian Authority from instilling terrorism in Gaza's youth and funding terrorist activities."
Netanyahu also asserted that voters back his stance that Israel must resist attempts to establish a Palestinian terrorist state. "The majority of Israelis recognize that failure to do so would result in a recurrence of the October 7 massacre," he added.
“So, my approach aligns with the views of the majority of Israelis. The citizens are more united than ever, understanding what is in Israel's best interest,” he concluded.
The Prime Minister's Office press service announced that Benjamin Netanyahu's interview will be aired on the evening of March 10.
