CNN: Israeli operation in Rafah postponed due to Ramadan
The US administration anticipates that the IDF's military operation in Gaza will not extend to Rafah in the near future. CNN reported this, citing official American sources.
According to the channel's sources, the reason for this decision is the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which commenced on March 10.
The US administration had made significant efforts to secure a ceasefire between the parties before Ramadan began, but these negotiations proved unsuccessful.
US President Joe Biden has labeled the entry of Israeli troops into Rafah, home to over a million refugees, as a "red line." He warns that such action would result in the deaths of an additional 30,000 Palestinians.
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that the operation in Rafah would proceed. "I also have a red line. I will not allow a repeat of October 7, 2023," he stated.
