Purity of Arms movements files lawsuit against Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef
The Purity of Arms Movement has taken legal action against Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, filing a lawsuit in the High Court of Justice.
This is in response to his remarks during his weekly sermon about the conscription law and the potential conscription of yeshiva students into the army.
Addressing statements made by politicians advocating for the conscription of yeshiva students into the army, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef stated, "If this happens, we will all go abroad."
He further commented, "There are individuals who participate in reservist training. Not everyone is suited to study the Torah. If we are compelled to join the army, we will all go abroad. We will simply purchase tickets... This cannot occur."
Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef emphasized, "Secular individuals may not grasp this, but they must understand: without the Torah, without kollels, without yeshivas, there would be no people, and the army would not achieve success. Soldiers triumph because of the sons of the Torah."
