Beit Kama terrorist was cousin of IDF soldier killed in Gaza
Additional details have been reported about the terrorist who carried out today's stabbing attack in Beit Kama. Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai said that the terrorist was named Fadi Abu Latif. He was 22 years old, lived in Rahat, and grew up in Gaza. He moved to Israel at the age of 18 under the family reunification program and obtained an Israeli passport. The terrorist carried out the attack shortly after getting married.
Fadi Abu Altayef was the first cousin of Sgt. First Class (res.) Ahmad Abu Latif, who served in the 8208th Battalion of the 261st Brigade. Ahmad Abu Latif was among the 21 soldiers killed on January 22 in the collapse of a building under fire in the center of the Gaza Strip. The Bedouin IDF reservist soldier also lived in Rahat.
According to surveillance camera footage, he attacked from behind a man in a military uniform, who managed to shoot the assailant before losing consciousness.
The attack was first reported at 14:05. The victim, who is in his 50s, was seriously wounded and taken by medics to Beersheba's Soroka Medical Center in critical condition. Another man, 65, was lightly wounded in the attack and was treated by medics at the scene.
