Non-commissioned IDF officer Uri Moyal dies of his wounds sustained in stabbing attack
The IDF reports that Uri Moyal, who was stabbed in the terrorist attack at the Beit Kama junction in southern Israel, succumbed to his wounds earlier today.
Uri Moyal, 51, from Dimona, was a Chief Warrant Officer and a senior technology and maintenance NCO at the Nahal Brigade's training base.
The attack took place at an Aroma branch at a gas station at 14:05 today. The terrorist, later identified as Fadi Abu Latif, attacked Moyal from behind. The victim managed to shoot the assailant dead before losing consciousness.
Medics took Moyal to Beersheba's Soroka Medical Center in critical condition. Another man, 65, was lightly wounded in the attack and was treated by medics at the scene.
Fadi Abu Latif was 22 years old, lived in Rahat, and grew up in Gaza. He moved to Israel at the age of 18 under the family reunification program and obtained an Israeli passport.
Fadi Abu Altayef was the first cousin of Sgt. First Class (res.) Ahmad Abu Latif, who served in the 8208th Battalion of the 261st Brigade. Ahmad Abu Latif was among the 21 soldiers killed on January 22 in the collapse of a building under fire in the center of the Gaza Strip. The Bedouin IDF reservist soldier also lived in Rahat.
A search was conducted in the terrorist's residence, and his relatives were questioned. Six individuals, including the apartment's owner rented by the terrorist, have been detained.
