Special police unit reports Results in combatting incitement to terror

The Israel Police have released data regarding their efforts to combat support and incitement of terrorism on social media, providing an update on the interim outcomes of a special unit established over a year ago by order of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Inspector General of Police Yaakov Shabtai.

Since October 7 and the onset of the war in Gaza, the police have identified 912 social media posts as potentially inciting violence and terror. Criminal charges have been filed against 468 of these posts. Furthermore, since October 7, 145 individuals suspected of inciting terrorism have been arrested, with charges filed against 140 of them.

During the war, in Judea and Samaria alone, the police have initiated 464 criminal cases related to incitement to terrorism, resulting in charges against 179 individuals. Consequently, a total of 932 criminal cases related to incitement to terror have been opened in Israel, leading to charges being brought against 319 individuals.

The Task Force for Combating Incitement to Terror, spearheaded by Police Brigadier General Shlomit Landes, aims to facilitate collaboration between the Israeli Police, the Ministry of National Security, the State Prosecutor's Office, the Shin Bet, and the IDF to hold accountable those who exploit social networks and the internet to incite terrorism and violence.
