Two Shin Bet officers were wounded in a shooting attack in the Gush Etzion settlement bloc in the West Bank, the IDF says. The gunman was neutralized. The attack took place during routine operations at the Gush Etzion junction area, the Shin Bet agency says.
Both victims were evacuated while conscious to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem to receive medical treatment. One is listed in serious but stable condition, while the second is lightly hurt, the hospital says.
Ynet reports that the shooter was identified as Ziad Hamran, 30, from Jenin. Apparently, he was collaborating with Israeli security services. Hamran opened fire during a coordinated meeting with the Shin bet officers. One of them returned fire and managed to shoot the terrorist dead.
