IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated in a briefing that several senior Hamas members, holding significant positions in the organization, were detained during the operation at Shifa Hospital.
He noted that he couldn't yet disclose their identities.
Hagari reported that Shifa Hospital housed "the highest concentration of terrorists since the beginning of the war," with 550 militants apprehended on the medical complex grounds.
"Many of them surrendered voluntarily – a significant blow to Islamic Jihad," Hagari added.
Over the past 24 hours, the naval special forces unit "Shayetet 13" conducted a raid on the "Qatari" corps, neutralizing dozens of ordinary militants and apprehending high-ranking terrorists within the organization's hierarchy.
Hagari detailed how gunmen had barricaded themselves in the emergency room, leading the military to evacuate doctors and patients from the danger zone.
"We continue to urge militants to surrender. Those who do so will remain unharmed; the rest will face destruction upon our entry," he emphasized.
Hagari underscored that the operation at Shifa Hospital would persist for several more days.
