Israel and US discussing option to arm Gazans for protection against Hamas
According to Kan-11, the Israeli security system is considering the possibility of providing pistols to community leaders and family clans in the Gaza Strip for self-defense.
The security system believes that without armed groups consisting of individuals who are not affiliated with terrorist organizations, it would be impossible to establish an alternative government to Hamas.
Such a government would be responsible for distributing humanitarian aid and restoring order in the northern and central regions of the Gaza Strip.
If the decision to distribute weapons is made, it is assumed that they will only be provided to individuals who have been verified by Israeli security services.
The TV channel reported that Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who is currently on an official visit to the United States, will discuss the distribution of weapons to the Gaza Strip population with Pentagon head Lloyd Austin as part of discussions regarding plans for post-war scenarios.
