According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the IDF has developed a new program for mobilizing ultra-Orthodox men, in addition to existing structures such as the Netzah Yehuda Battalion.
The new program will be implemented during the recruitment process. Yeshiva students, who may not possess conventional school knowledge, will undergo a psychometric test to identify gifted soldiers. In theory, this will enable them to serve in elite units, such as the Intelligence Unit 8200.
According to a high-ranking officer, the new program entails establishing structures adapted to the needs of the ultra-Orthodox community. Specifically, plans include opening a yeshiva in the Jordan Valley, where students will perform security duties on the border while studying Torah.
Moreover, a special educational facility will prepare ultra-Orthodox soldiers for service in various military branches, including the Air Force.
