On the evening of March 25, Hamas issued a statement announcing that it had submitted an official response to mediators regarding a proposed deal with Israel to exchange hostages and prisoners.
According to the statement, "We have recently informed the mediators that we maintain our position as declared on March 14. Israel's proposals fail to meet any of our fundamental demands, including a comprehensive ceasefire, the withdrawal of troops from the Gaza Strip, and the repatriation of residents displaced from the northern areas of the strip to their homes."
Hamas blamed Israel for the breakdown of negotiations, stating in their statement, "Netanyahu and his extremist government bear full responsibility for the failure of the negotiation efforts."
