Anti-government protesters near the Knesset in Jerusalem claim around 100,000 participants, marking the largest protest since the beginning of the war.
The demonstration, with the slogan "Elections now!", included Arnon Bar-David, chairman of the All-Israeli Federation of Trade Unions (Histadrut), though he did not speak.
Before the rally ended, hundreds moved towards Derech Begin, blocking the highway and lighting bonfires. Mounted police cleared the road, using a foul-smelling mixture, "Buash" ("Skunk"), to disperse the crowd.
Police reported that traffic on the Begin Highway has resumed.
Another group blocked the highway entrance near the String Bridge. Police assure that order will be restored shortly and traffic will return to normal.
