IDF mourns World Central Kitchen employee deaths in Gaza, vows investigation
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit extended condolences for the death of World Central Kitchen employees during military operations in the Gaza Strip.
They assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and the results will be made public. IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari delivered a special message in English, of which the full translation is provided below:
"Last night, a tragic incident occurred in the Gaza Strip resulting in the loss of World Central Kitchen employees who were dedicated to providing food to those in need. As a professional military adhering to international law, we are committed to meticulously reviewing our actions with transparency.
I had a conversation with Chef José Andrés, the founder of World Central Kitchen, and on behalf of the Israel Defense Forces, I extend heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the entire World Central Kitchen organization. We also express condolences to all countries and partners who have been diligently assisting those in need.
We will thoroughly investigate this incident at the highest level to understand the details and circumstances. An independent and professional investigative body within the General Staff will lead this inquiry.
In recent months, the IDF has collaborated closely with World Central Kitchen to support its noble mission of providing food and humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip. This organization also assisted Israel following the October 7 tragedy and was among the first responders. Their work is indispensable and places them on the frontline of humanitarian aid efforts.
We are committed to uncovering all aspects of this incident and will fully disclose the findings of our investigation."
