Yeshiva students begin being served military summonses
On April 2, the Walla portal reports that the army has begun delivering military summonses to yeshiva students eligible for IDF enlistment.
The summons delivery started after the government's decision to grant Haredim exemptions from military service expired on April 1. The state is now legally obligated to begin drafting ultra-Orthodox yeshiva students, and there is no longer a legal basis for the state to pay such students' monthly stipends.
According to Walla, yeshiva students who were exempted from service based on the government's decision without enacting a law were the first to receive a summons.
