The police reported that last night they interrogated a resident of Tel Aviv, 53, who ran over five protesters in Tel Aviv last night.
The driver is suspected of endangering the lives of people on the road. During interrogation, the detainee claimed that he did not want to run over anyone intentionally. According to him, his electric car malfunctioned. He asserts that he "did everything possible to avoid running over protesters."
Police are expected to request that the driver's detention be extended later today, citing the incident as posing a risk to human life.
On April 6, the driver plowed his car into a crowd of protesters in Tel Aviv demanding a Gaza hostage deal and the resignation of PM Netanyahu and attempted to continue driving but was apprehended by the police. One of the victims, a woman around 50 years old, sustained moderate injuries, while four others suffered minor injuries.
