The IDF Spokesperson's Unit released an update on the interception of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) near Eilat using the C-Dome sea-based missile defense system.
The interception was executed by the crew of the Saar-6 class missile corvette as the UAV flew from the eastern side toward the Gulf of Eilat area.
"In a coordinated effort with the aviation control unit, the Saar-6 crew from the Shayetet-3 flotilla successfully intercepted the UAV," the statement declared.
The alarm in Eilat and the surrounding region sounded on April 8 at 11:32 PM, alerting IDF Navy forces to the aircraft's intrusion into Israeli airspace. The object was promptly neutralized by the C-Dome missile defense system, marking the sea-based Iron Dome's inaugural deployment since the conflict's onset. Fortunately, no injuries or property damage occurred.
The sea-based Iron Dome, an adaptation of the land-based version, features a control system developed by mPrest and employs the MF-STAR radar from ELTA. It operates within Israel's broader air defense framework alongside missiles like Hetz and David's Sling.
