In the Sistan and Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran, militants ambushed a police convoy. Six police officers were killed, and two others were injured. The Jaish al-Adl group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The group advocates for autonomy for the Sunni residents of the province and seeks to achieve its goal through military means. Iran considers Jaish al-Islam a terrorist organization.
The province, bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan, has become an arena for clashes between security forces, militants, and armed groups.
