The Israel Defense Forces' press service announced that they named the operation to fend off the Iranian attack on Saturday, April 13, "Magen Barzel" which means "Iron Shield."

The operation's name was made public for the first time in a report from the army's press service during Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Herzi HaLevi's visit to the Nevatim airbase. There, he met with the pilots of the 140th squadron, who flew fifth-generation F35 bombers (known as Adir), participating in repelling the Iranian attack.

"Iran aimed to harm Israel's strategic capabilities, a situation unprecedented until now. We were ready for Operation Iron Shield, and because of this preparedness, and your involvement, Iran recognized our aerial superiority," quoted the Chief of the General Staff by the press service.

HaLevi mentioned that Israel is currently assessing its next steps, stating, "Launching such a significant number of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones into Israeli territory will not be left without a response."

Iran employed hundreds of drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles in the attack on Israel. A total of 350 launches originated from Iranian territory. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces, stated during an April 14 briefing that Iran attempted to unleash 60 tons of explosives on the Jewish state.

The United States, Great Britain, and Jordan also participated in repelling the strike. Israeli air defenses claimed to have destroyed 99% of Iranian targets.
