Haifa police officers apprehended a 25-year-old resident of the Arab village of Ilut suspected of threatening doctors and plotting a terrorist attack.
According to the police press service, the suspect visited the hospital for medical treatment but became agitated when staff attended to another patient. He then contacted the hospital administration and threatened to become a suicide bomber, intending to return to the hospital armed and harm the doctors.
Police apprehended the suspect near the hospital before he could execute his plan.
The individual is known to law enforcement for previous illegal activities. Police will seek a court order to extend his detention.
