Gaza Health Ministry reports over 34,500 deaths since start of war

The Gaza Ministry of Health, which operates under Hamas, reported on April 30 that since October 7, 34,535 people have been killed and 77,704 injured to varying degrees in the Gaza Strip.

During the past 24 hours of fighting in Gaza, the Hamas Ministry of Health stated that hospitals received the bodies of 47 deceased individuals and reported 61 wounded.

However, information from the Gaza Ministry of Health cannot be independently verified, and it does not specify how many of the casualties were militants from terrorist groups.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has repeatedly emphasized its inability to confirm or deny the accuracy of the data provided by the Gaza Ministry of Health. Nevertheless, in January, The Lancet published an analysis suggesting that the data from the Gaza Ministry of Health may closely reflect reality.

According to reports from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), dozens of militants from terrorist groups are eliminated daily in Gaza. The IDF claims that approximately 14,000 militants and their commanders have been killed since the war began, with Hamas acknowledging around 6,000 deaths among its fighters.

The Gaza Ministry of Health's reports do not differentiate between civilian and militant casualties and attribute all casualties to IDF actions. Many deaths result from the actions of Hamas or other reasons unrelated to Israeli military operations in Gaza.
