Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir have voiced their opposition to the recent appointments in the military and have called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to intervene in the matter. Their reactions came in response to the IDF's announcement regarding new appointments in the "General Staff forum."

Bezalel Smotrich, head of the Tzionut Datit party and Finance Minister, expressed his belief that the responsibility for army failures lies with the Chief of the General Staff, and therefore, new appointments should not be within his purview.

Smotrich stated, "Trust cannot be restored this way. It is time for the head of government to assert control and appoint the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff."

Similarly, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir objected to the current defense minister, Gallant, having the authority to make new appointments.

Ben Gvir argued, "Gallant lacks the mandate to appoint new generals and shape the future of the General Staff forum. The appointments announced today, in conjunction with the Chief of the General Staff, demonstrate a disregard for public opinion."

Ben Gvir called on Prime Minister Netanyahu to remove Yoav Gallant from his position as defense minister.
