Policeman who served at headquarters on October 7 dies at 20
20-year-old Evyatar Khalaf from Yeruham has tragically passed away during his service. On October 7, Evyatar was on duty at the police control center of the Southern District, where he witnessed negotiations among police officers attempting to thwart large-scale terrorist attacks and heard all that transpired.
According to certain reports, it is suggested that he may have taken his own life. Consequently, the city news outlet of Ashkelon quoted colleagues of the deceased who described Evyatar as a cheerful and smiling individual, yet one who "witnessed and heard all the horrors reported from the field, and apparently could no longer bear it."
Evyatar Khalaf leaves behind his parents and six brothers. He was laid to rest on Monday, May 6, at the new Yeruham Cemetery.
