According to Channel 12, 150,000 people have been evacuated from the eastern neighborhoods of Rafah since yesterday.
The evacuation started on the morning of May 6. According to UN estimates, the city of Rafah in southern Gaza is home to some 1.4 million citizens, including both local residents and refugees from other areas of the Strip.
The evacuees have been offered to relocate to a temporary camp in the humanitarian zone of al-Mawasi, near Khan Yunis.
On Tuesday, May 7, the mayor of Rafah stated that the IDF is striking across the entire city, not just the eastern neighborhoods. According to the mayor, the humanitarian camp in al-Mawasi is not prepared to accommodate a large number of refugees due to the lack of necessary infrastructure.
Doctors Without Borders has stated that the operation in Rafah will have catastrophic consequences for the healthcare system in the Strip.
